How Tally compares

Other privacy and compliance work on Stellar, what each covers, and where Tally differs.

This page compares Tally with other projects that touch privacy, disclosure or compliance on Stellar. It is based on docs/research/OVERLAP.md, checked on 2026-10-05 from code, project pages and SCF submissions. Funding figures are award amounts from SCF pages; payment status is rarely public.

How to read the table. "Own" means the project runs its own privacy protocol rather than OpenZeppelin Confidential Tokens (OZ CT) or Nethermind's Stellar Private Payments (SPP). "Built" means shipped in code or on a live page. "Planned" means stated but not shipped.

Remi (SCF #44, $133.7k)Remittance settlement company building a confidential settlement layerOZ CT (its own wrappers of an earlier OpenZeppelin revision)Auditor and compliance dashboard, compliance API with screening hooks, and per-transfer selective disclosure, all planned; allowlist and blocklist policy contracts in its repositoryTestnet contractsThe closest funded overlap on the same standard. Remi serves its own deployment and plans payouts through Anchor Platform. Tally aims to serve other issuers, with split auditor custody and aggregate proofs

First-party work

PartyWhat it providesRelation to Tally
OpenZeppelinThe Confidential Tokens specification, reference contracts, and a reference demo with an auditor console, single-transfer disclosures and allow/block policies. Aggregate, auditor-side and balance disclosures are specified, not shippedSupplies the tools. SDF's notes describe OpenZeppelin as "a tooling provider, not an operator"
Nethermind SPPA privacy-pool protocol with association-set trees, a global view key and note-disclosure receiptsSupplies the tools and leaves the association-set operator role to whoever deploys a pool
SDFA demonstration game (who-ate-gerald) in which an auditor key answers one question per player per day; no confidential-token work in the Disbursement PlatformSDF is asking for an operator, not building one, as far as the public record shows

What no one has claimed

As of 2026-10-05, in the sources checked:

  • Split custody of the auditor key for either privacy system.
  • An operator serving other issuers across both OZ CT and SPP.
  • Scoped audit requests enforced cryptographically, with a public log.
  • Aggregate, per-period and per-counterparty disclosure proofs. OpenZeppelin specifies them but has not shipped them, and no other public implementation was found. Tally's multi-sender payout aggregate is built; its per-period and per-counterparty proofs are designed, not built.
  • Tax export from confidential history.
  • One subject registry projected into both systems' lists.

Compliance for confidential one-to-many payouts on OZ CT is partly claimed: Remi plans payouts with an auditor dashboard.

Tally's own operator functions are designed, not built. See Operator design.
